What's in season in September?

The British bean and pea season is drawing to a close so its time to feast while we can!

Scallops from the UK coastline should be plentiful. Try frying them with chorizo and green beans and tossing into pasta for an easy and delicious supper.

Make a broad bean dip to pack into school lunchboxes with crudités and oatcakes as an alternative to sandwiches.

Blackberries are the last of the summer’s soft fruit and British apples are in season now – a perfect partnership in pies, crumbles or as a compote with yoghurt.

Also in season: leeks, squash, sweetcorn and damsons

green beans

· The green bean is the true British green bean! green beans should always be cooked al dente to be enjoyed at their best.
